Biography

One of my earliest memories is of my maternal grandmother bringing me some coloured crayons and paper one rainy day in Aberdeen - my home town. She had always been a very creative lady who rarely had any free time to engage her artistic side so encouraged me to do so instead. How much do I owe to her diligence in getting a 2 year old to sit still and draw!

At primary school I was always encouraged to enter art competitions and won several prizes so it was a given that at High School I would continue to enjoy art under the expert tutelage of Mr Batchelor our fun, eccentric and flamboyant Barbadian Head of Art.  Due to his exceptional teaching I succeeded in winning a much coveted place at Aberdeens Grays School of Art in 1976 where I studied Graphic Design and Printmaking until I graduated in 1979.

Since then  have worked as a Graphic Designer and along with raising a family found I rarely had the time to sit and draw. When I came across the 28 Drawings Later Challenge on Facebook - a drawing a day for the month of February 2012 - I was intrigued and thought I’d give it a go. I really didn’t think I’d manage to draw every day but I did!  Not only have I re-ignited my passion for drawing, I have found a whole new family of like minded artists out in the cyber community who have

given me the support, encouragement and inspiration I need to keep going! It has become such a real solid discipline that I find I now HAVE to draw every day.
